Episode 2: Your First Fertility Appointment

A first fertility appointment really doesn’t need to be daunting. This episode runs through what to expect during your first fertility consultation, so that you feel more comfortable and prepared for this exciting step on your journey to parenthood.

Helpful Information About Your First Appointment

Knowing what to expect in your first fertility appointment can help ease any nerves you might have. It’s also helpful to have an idea of what information you might be asked, so that you can prepare.

A first fertility appointment is largely an information-gathering session, where Dr Ruba will ask you about your medical history, get to know your fertility goals, and order any tests required. It’s also a valuable opportunity for you and Dr Ruba to get to know each other.

As a fertility specialist who cares deeply about her patients, Dr Ruba is guided by your level of comfort, and carefully calibrates the information to ensure that it is relevant to your needs right now. She appreciates that fertility struggles can be a really emotional subject, and that each fertility journey is unique. For some people, too much information is overwhelming, while others feel empowered by knowing everything they can about the fertility process.

Dr Ruba is here to support you and guide you so that you feel empowered and ready to move forward if you wish. Listen to the podcast to find out more about what a first fertility appointment is like.

“It’s very hard for some couples or individuals who look around them and see everyone else having a baby, and they don’t have a baby, they can’t relate to that. They feel resentful, they feel upset. It’s everywhere when they start looking. They go to the shopping centre and every second woman is pregnant. They see children everywhere. There’s a daycare centre on every corner. Living without a child in society can be extremely hard. And so I think it’s understanding how we might help them get through that journey. “
