Episode 1: A Life’s Work: Meet Dr Jyotica Ruba

In this introductory episode, you’ll get to know Dr Jyotica Ruba. We chat about why she became a fertility specialist, and what she hopes you will get out of her podcast to help you on your fertility journey.

A Life’s Work

Fertility is a fast-moving area full of innovation, and for Dr Jyotica Ruba, helping couples and individuals have babies is a continuation of her life’s work.

As the daughter of the first female GP in Newcastle, Dr Ruba grew up on stories of her mother’s work as a doctor. This work extended far beyond the clinic, including delivering babies and assisting with home births in the 1970’s. From this inspirational upbringing the die was cast, with Dr Ruba growing up to have her own highly respected career as an obstetrician, gynaecologist, and fertility specialist.

For Dr Jyotica Ruba, delivering fertility information in an understandable way is a guiding principle of her practice. She has begun the Fertile Ground podcast to help demystify the fertility process and answer common questions that her patients have.

“I love the ability to be available to help everyone on their fertility journey, whether it’s the individual, whether it’s the heterosexual couple, or the same- sex couples, and I enjoy every single journey it takes me on as well as them. It’s just amazing. And it’s a privilege to be part of that journey.”
