Episode 4: Egg Freezing 101: What You Need to Know
Thinking about freezing your eggs? In this episode, Dr. Ruba discusses the what, when and how of egg freezing. For those curious about when they should take this step or what the medical process involves, this episode is for you.
What You Need to Know About Freezing Your Eggs
Egg freezing is becoming an extremely popular option for women wanting to preserve their future fertility. We have seen a tripling of the market for egg freezing in less than a decade, but women aren’t always clear exactly what the process of freezing their eggs entails from a medical perspective, or when in their lives they should take this step.
Women wishing to freeze their eggs will have hormone injections to grow their eggs over a 2 week period. The eggs are then collected under anaesthetic and then frozen in our state-of-the-art lab and stored until the woman is ready to start a family.
Egg freezing affords women greater control over their reproductive lives and careers, and as such, this option is now being taken up by many women. Dr Ruba is delighted to offer this service to her patients. If you’d like to know more about egg freezing, including what you might do to improve the quality of your eggs or what age you might start thinking about freezing your eggs, please listen to the podcast.
It’s been about 10 years since we moved from thinking that freezing eggs was ‘experimental’, to now using it as an accepted procedure for women to preserve their fertility for the future.
We look forward to supporting you.
